(November 30, 1999) -- Working with Beijing Mobile Communications Corporation (BMCC) and China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC), Nokia has demonstrated the use of WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) to browse the Internet in Chinese.

It is the first time that Nokia WAP platforms and the Nokia 7110 media phone have been used to browse the Internet in Chinese, marking important progress in Nokia's efforts to develop WAP applications for the Chinese market.

Nokia conducted the demonstrations using BMCC's GSM network and the Nokia Artus Messaging Platform. The Beijing Telecom Administration server acted as the information source for the demonstrations.
