Phone.com said it plans to integrate AtMotion's Internet Voice Portal technology into the MyPhone personal portal and the Up.Link Server suite WAP 1.1 platform. The goal of Phone.com (formerly known as Unwired Planet) is to create a unified phone/PDA platform capable of handling WAP, short message service, and enhanced circuit voice capabilities such as unified messaging and voice recognition. The resulting integrated product will compete in part with products from vendors such as General Magic and Wildfire. Phone.com picks up 40 employees with its acquisition of @Motion, 30 of whom are engineers.
