[Bell Mobility Canada to offer WAP phones "in the first quarter of 2000" according to this report.]

REDWOOD CITY, Calif -- "Bell Mobility Canada and Phone.com, Inc., (Nasdaq: PHCM) announced today that Bell Mobility's PCS Mobile Browser Internet service will be enhanced with the addition of new handsets in the first quarter of 2000. The addition of Nokia, Samsung, Motorola Startac and Neopoint handsets will increase the variety of models available with minibrowser capabilities. Bell Mobility currently offers instant access to Internet services including email, mobile banking, directories, and a variety of entertainment services to subscribers via the PCS Mobile Browser service.

"Our service is expanding rapidly with the addition of new browser enabled handsets," said Charlotte Burke, Vice President of Services Development for Bell Mobility. "Our close relationship with Phone.com is key to our rolling out a successful service."

"Bell Mobility has been an innovator and first to market in the area of bringing new services such as mobile banking to market," said Ben Linder, VP of Marketing for Phone.com. "With these new handsets, developers as well as consumers will see a broader offering."

"Phone.com's UP.Browser is a WAP-compatible microbrowser designed and optimized for mass-market wireless telephones. Using UP.Browser, wireless subscribers can access Web-based information and services that are hosted on network operators' or third-party Web servers. Due to its open and highly portable architecture, UP.Browser can be embedded into a variety of wireless telephones and utilizes each mobile phone's specific display and input characteristics, such as graphical displays and programmable keys. UP.Browser in combination with each phone's existing user interface software allows network operators to reach subscribers and add innovative services while utilizing seamless integration of voice and data services.
