A special software package, WAP Service Broker, is intended to enable Surfing with all Mobile Phones, even those which do not yet support the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). When the CMG software is installed on a server, data is translated into the Short Message Service (SMS) formats so that existing Mobile Phones can receive it.

WAP-Handys were to have become the "Boom Article" of the Christmas seasaon, but that didn't exactly come to pass. The WAP Phones are still expensive and are, for the most part, unavailable. The first WAP compatible web services are already on the internet, but others are holding back because of the lack of compatilble phones. CMG intends to help this situation with a complete package: WAP Gateway and WAP Service Broker should not only bring the already available WAP infrastructure to every Handy, but also bring about a completely new WAP service with integrated SMS capabilities.
