Alameda, Calif. -- "Geoworks Corporation (NASDAQ: GWRX), a leading provider of mobile media and e-commerce services for the consumer and business markets, today launched SnowZone(TM), the newest addition to Mobile Attitude, Geoworks' suite of targeted mobile content and commerce services. SnowZone provides a customizable tool for mobile users to receive timely and thorough snow conditions for all major North American ski areas and resorts, direct to their digital or WAP-enabled mobile phones or alphanumeric pagers.
"SnowZone further extends Geoworks' commitment to developing innovative services that fulfill the unique nature of the mobile communications medium," said Rhonda Jobe, Vice President of Marketing at Geoworks. "We recognize the huge potential of mobile media and commerce services for wireless subscribers, and are responding to the market opportunity with an expanded suite of Mobile Attitude services."
"SnowZone is the most recent addition to Mobile Attitude, which currently includes a mobile discount and promotion service and a reminder service. Geoworks partnered with The AMI News Group, the media's premier source for ski and snow reports throughout the world, to deliver timely and personalized data to SnowZone users, including new snowfall, base and top area snow depths, surface snow conditions, number of lifts and runs open, hours of resort operation, and special resort events.
"AMI already provides current and comprehensive information to skiers and snowboarders around the world," said Rob Brown, president of The AMI News Group. "By partnering with Geoworks, we will be among the first to utilize the mobile medium to deliver accurate, up-to-date information to snow enthusiasts right when they're ready to hit the slopes."
"Mobile users simply visit Mobile Attitude at www.mobileattitude.com and click on the SnowZone tab to customize the service to suit their specific needs. Users specify the North American regions and specific resorts from which they would like to receive reports, and then select the type of information that they want and the days and times of the week they want to receive their SnowZone messages.
"AMI compiles daily reports for every ski resort in North America, which include new snow reports, snow pack depths, the number of lifts and trails open, and the hours of operations for each resort. This information is then routed directly to the snow sport enthusiast through a variety of media, including radio, the Internet, and now, the mobile medium.
