Munich, Germany -- "Siemens Information and Communication Networks Group and Phone.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: PHCM) announced that Siemens has awarded "commercial availability status" to the Phone.com UP.Link(TM) Server Suite R4, signifying the world-wide availability of Phone.com's WAP solution for immediate commercial deployment at over ten mobile operators in Europe and Asia including operators in Germany, Spain, Norway, Belgium and Hong Kong. With network operators as its focus customers, Siemens to date has entered into relationships with 20 GSM network operators in Asia and Europe to implement Phone.com's WAP solution for trial and/or commercial operation.

"This status is earned only by software that Siemens' rigorous quality processes deem to be ready for commercial deployment in mobile networks. Siemens is ready to provide logistics management, installation support, customer training and 24 hours X 7 days customer support for Phone.com's UP.Link Server Suite R4 to enable network operators to bring WAP services to market quickly.

"Siemens is pleased to bring its customers the first telecom grade WAP solution ready for volume deployment," said Lothar Pauly, president of the Communications on Air Division at Siemens Information and Communication Networks Group. "Phone.com's quality software and time-to-market lead will enable us to offer WAP capability to our broad customer base of over 140 network operators in over 70 countries."

"We are pleased that Siemens recognizes the quality and maturity of our software by granting the 'commercial availability status' for worldwide implementation," said Malcolm Bird, managing director of Phone.com Europe. "Siemens' active sales efforts have increased our GSM footprint to 20 operators world-wide which are either in trial or in commercial deployment."

"The UP.Link Server Suite offers GSM network operators a complete WAP-based solution to enable their subscribers to gain access to Internet-based content and applications. The Phone.com UP.Link Server Suite is in its fourth generation, providing a scalable and robust implementation of the WAP protocol. Since 1997, Phone.com's solutions have been licensed to over 50 of the world's leading operator networks.
