F-Secure and Hewlett Packard team up in WAP security

[Companies are cooperating on anti-virus scanner for WAP phones, as well as a "secured WAP server."]

Helsinki -- "Finnish computer security company F-Secure said on Thursday it would develop security for Internet-enabled Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) mobile phones together with Hewlett Packard .

"This partnership will result in the world's first centrally managed anti-virus scanner for WAP phones," it said in a statement.

"F-Secure said the companies were also cooperating to develop a secured WAP server incorporating the HP server, WAP server software and F-Secure anti-virus programmes for the WAP server, availability of which would be announced later.
