Nokia, New World Mobility Team to Expand Hong Kong Network

[Nokia remains the sole infrastructure supplier to New World Mobility in Hong Kong.]

Hong Kong -- "Nokia of Finland and New World Mobility of Hong Kong have signed an agreement valued at US$25 million for the expansion of New World's mobile communications services in Hong Kong.

"The expansion is scheduled to be completed by the end of February. Under terms of this agreement, Nokia will deliver mobile switching equipment, base stations, high-capacity base station controllers and a range of professional services.

"Also, Nokia will provide its intelligent frequency hopping (IFH) technology to enhance the capacity and quality of the New World network.

"Nokia and New World began collaborating in 1996 and Nokia remains the sole infrastructure supplier for the network. Nokia's GPRS core network solution was supplied to New World last year.
