"Alps Electric Co., Ltd. has developed the PTMTL13 series of small, or A9-size, color printers for mobile information terminals, including mobile phones, and it plans to start sample shipments in May.
"Alps is the first company to offer such an A9-size printer.
"The printer is about the same size as A9 paper, which measures 37.5mm by 52.0mm. It allows images to be printed as displayed on Internet-compatible mobile phones.
"Also, the printer features (1) enhanced image quality rivaling that of lab-developed photos through the adoption of the variable-dot printing method, (2) long-term preservation of the image with an overcoat applied after printing, and (3) outer compact dimensions of 63.7mm wide by 65.7mm deep by 17.7mm high.
"Its sample price is 10,000 yen, according to an Alps official.
