Redwood Shores, Calif. -- "OracleMobile.com, a subsidiary of Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL - news) focused on the wireless Internet industry, today announced its first voice recognition-enabled service and unveiled rapid rollout plans for voice-enabling the entire OracleMobile.com wireless portal. With this announcement, OracleMobile.com is adding voice access to its wireless services, and as a result is increasing the availability of the Internet to hundreds of millions of people who have phones but may not be able to access PCs.
"The first new service, available immediately, is a voice response-enabled Movie Guide combining content from Hollywood.com and MapQuest.com with Motorola's VoxML(TM) Voice Markup Language technology. This service lets mobile movie fans leave the newspaper, phone book and maps behind with voice access to movies by category or location, along with movie reviews and intelligent directions to their preset home, work or other personalized location landmarks. Today's announcement marks the first of many wireless voice services which OracleMobile.com plans to roll out over the coming months.
