Corsair PrePay Open Goes Live in Sao Paulo, Brazil

[Corsair gives Brazilian users interoperable roaming by launching its infrastructure-independent real-time billing system after only two months implementation time.]

Palo Alto, Calif -- Corsair Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CAIR), a leading provider of software and system solutions for the global wireless industry, today announced that Brazilian carriers BCP and TESS now support prepaid roaming between their markets in Sao Paulo, Brazil using Corsair's PrePay Open interface software. The inauguration of prepaid roaming between TESS and BCP was timed as part of a nationwide celebration of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil, on April 21, 1500.

In February 2000, Corsair and BCP initiated a trial of Corsair's PrePay Open, a new product announced at the CTIA Wireless 2000 Conference in New Orleans, LA. The trial was designed to demonstrate the ability of PrePay Open to support roaming in mixed infrastructure environments like those found at BCP and TESS using WIN technology. TESS and BCP support one of the world's fastest-growing wireless prepaid markets, Sao Paulo, Brazil, a city with over 16 million residents.

As of April 21, PrePay Open has been running live, allowing BCP and TESS subscribers to use their PrePay wireless accounts while they roam throughout the Sao Paulo area. Kent Jonsson, chief operating officer of TESS, agreed that, "Corsair has delivered on all their promises and commitments to this key cooperative program. The joint BCP/TESS operations team, together with the Corsair team, worked effectively together to bring the system 'live,' ahead of schedule. This ensured that we could deliver prepaid roaming services in time for our 500th anniversary."

Carla Schneiderman, Corsair Communications vice president of marketing and business development, said, "At last week's Americas 2000 Conference in Rio de Janeiro we saw first-hand the dynamic nature of the Brazilian economy. The growth of the wireless segment is very strong in Latin America and Brazil in particular. Brazil's thriving prepaid market demands roaming across multiple carriers and multiple wireless infrastructures. TESS and BCP are leaders in meeting the needs of their subscribers in this exciting market. Corsair's strategy is to continue to provide new and enhanced services like PrePay Open and our new mobile commerce application, PhoneFuel -- both of which leverage our real time billing engine. These products and services allow carriers like TESS and BCP to provide the enhanced services needed to grow their businesses."
