WAP snaps up Teletext
Posted: 05-May-2000 [Source: FT]

[Britain's Teletext offers stock info to WAP-enabled investors.]

by Steve Johnson -- "USERS of WAP-enabled mobile phones can now access the latest prices of more than 3,000 shares - wherever they are in the world.

"Teletext, the popular TV-based information service, is the latest big name to join the WAP (wireless application protocol) revolution.

"Private investors will be able to use the free service to keep up to date with events on the London Stock Exchange as well as access a financial news service.

"Chris Clarke, finance editor of Teletext, says: "Britain is becoming a nation of shareholders all hungry for the latest information. Everyone wants access to the latest news and prices to help them make the right decisions about when to buy, hold and sell.

"By providing this information over a WAP service, investors now have the flexibility to view the up-to-the-minute prices whilst on the move and away from their desks."
