ITERU.NET today announced worldwide availability of MEMOs, a revolutionary Multi-platform Electronic Message Originator and COLONIES, Mobile-centric Online Communities, which it will be demonstrating at CommunicAsia 2000 (Booth 6B2-08) from June 6-9.
Designed for use with any WAP enabled device, MEMOs (patent pending) enables users to send a single message simultaneously to multiple recipient messaging platforms including SMS, E-mail, ICQ and Fax. For the first time, users no longer have to compose and send the same message repeatedly over each messaging platform, which has been especially frustrating for mobile users.
Included in MEMOs is ITERU.NET's proprietary mobile messaging platform which is more mobile-user-friendly as the addressing system is based on
an easy to remember ITERU.ID that is also easier to key into a mobile phone. For added convenience, group mailing lists that comprise any combination of ITERU.ID, E-mail, SMS, Fax and ICQ addresses may be setup by the user. Support for other platforms are being built.
"Most existing platforms are not mobile friendly," says Dennis Goh, CEO of ITERU. "We aim to make it possible to contact anybody on any platform and make the process mobile-friendly, but our ITERU.ID platform is really most suitable for the mobile environment and overcomes many shortcomings of SMS"
COLONIES provides tools that enable many-to-many communication, including Live-Chat, Forums and Resources, and enables formation of limitless online mobile communities. Users can create Public Colonies, where like-minded users can freely interact, or Private Colonies as a private
messaging/communication platform for their workgroup, friends or family.
"20 calls between 5 friends are no longer necessary to arrange dinner or tennis, just post a message in your Colony forum and consensus is reached in no time," comments Goh.
Designed for easy implementation by any WAP operator, ITERU.NET services can be made available to their users almost immediately. No download of software is necessary to use ITERU.NET on mobile phones, full services can be accessed from the WAPsite (http://mmm.iteru.net). ITERU.NET plans to operate a global network of WAP gateways so that operators that do not have gateways are still able to offer our services rapidly and at low cost. ITERU.NET will continue to rapidly roll-out product enhancements and other value-added services that will further benefit partners and their customers.
"We see early adopters in the generation-Y market which use SMS frequently, but we expect demand coming from corporate users when devices with easier text input are released and have also designed corporate services for future release" adds Goh. "Communication is a such a basic need that already takes up 70% of internet online time. By deploying ITERU.NET's services on their portals, phone operators further benefit from increased air-time"
"Many mobile portals are concentrating on content and transactions, which makes the online experience of their subscribers a lonely one," says Goh. "We offer portal operators a ready solution that catalyses interactivity between subscribers, enriching their online experience and increasing brand loyalty. People will leave a content portal if another offers better content, but communities are more binding as people have to contend with leaving behind the kinship and bond with other subscribers that have to be rebuilt at a new portal. Communities will also promote m-commerce. Part of the great experience of internet shopping is the vast amount of information available that allow educated purchases. In the mobile environment, it is
impractical to sieve through so much information. Many users will rather rely on quick user recommendations and ratings found in their interest groups to make that educated purchase."
In addition, ITERU.NET offers a very quick and cost effective way for small and medium size enterprises or real-world communities to get onto WAP. In essence these organisations will form mobile Colonies which may be public or private in nature, where relevant content is kept in the Resources function provided within their Colony. The messaging, chat and forum functions allow the organisation and members to keep in touch with each other constantly.
