YPres1.0 - Dynamic WAP development freeware
Posted: 07-Sep-2000 [Source: YacCom]

[Developers of dynamic WAP sites now have a tool available based on XSL stylesheets.]

Rennes, France -- YACCOM launches YPres 1.0: the first freeware facilitating the development of dynamic WAP sites! Since the 4 th September, YACCOM company puts gratuitously at disposal YPres 1.0: an API conceived for facilitating the creation of dynamic WAP sites. The product is for developers and ASPs (Application Services Providers); to get it, you just have to register on the YACCOM's web site (www.yaccom.com) to download the API with all necessary documents.

Several development tools are already available for free on the Web, but they are effective only with static pages. YPres 1.0 enables, without having to know the WML syntax, to develop dynamic and interactive WAP applications. It will then become possible and even easy to create a WAP site based on an on-line catalog or an Intranet application. As a matter of fact, the API conceived by YACCOM works as an extension and enables developers to adapt the presentation of content effortlessly.

For this purpose, YACCOM proposes as complement several stylesheets (XSLs), which will make the content perfectly viewable on different WAP terminals. It must be reminded that each WAP terminal (and browser) owns specificities (screen size, number of characters, navigation options), which have to be followed. The stylesheets conceived by YACCOM, which adapt content "on fly", enable developers to focus exclusively on data update without worrying about presentation.

Jacky Boscher, YACCOM's founder, explains that "YPres 1.0 duplicates and adapts content, however a specific expertise can be brought for taking advantage from all the WAP potentialities (such as PUSH or geo-localisation). For two years now, YACCOM strengths its know-how with the overall aim of advising customers efficiently on how to integrate the latest mobile Internet's technologies."

Indeed, founded in April 1998 and based in Rennes (France), YACCOM is one of the first French companies that has positioned itself in the world of mobile business applications. Stemming from the GSM mobile commerce, the company provides for two years its expertise and advices to terminal manufacturers, telecoms operators, Internet access providers, software editors and any other kind of organisation that needs to distribute Web content.
