[WPC2000] Common Industry Framework for Secure Mobile Commerce Vital, Nokia Japan VP Says

[Nokia VP envisions wireless phones evolving into personal trusted devices with multi-faceted capabilities.]

Tokyo -- "On the second day of World PC Expo 2000, Nigel Rundstrom, vice president of Nokia Japan Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech entitled, "Toward the Mobile Data World of Tomorrow."

"To kick off the Oct. 18 presentation there was a video segment, prepared by Rundstrom himself, which depicted the type of new lifestyle that so-called third generation (3G) mobile phones will make possible. The video impressed those attending the speech by showing a futuristic concept phone equipped with attractive features -- such as a fingerprint ID module, a video camera, automatic language interpretation capability, and a TV tuner -- which will give rise to a new form of mobile communications fusing audio and visual data and make possible mobile banking and mobile e-commerce in general
