BT set to break up into five public companies Posted: 09-Nov-2000 [Source: FT] [British Telecom released its long-awaited corporate restructuring plans today.] By Dan Roberts and Andrew Ward in London -- "British Telecommunications on Thursday announced a radical restructuring that will break the business into five separate public companies."The company plans to offer up to 25 per cent of its mobile phone assets in the second half of next year and hopes to float its business services and Yellow pages divisions and a new company that will own its UK network infrastructure. "I think we can significantly change the style and culture of BT as a result of these changes," Sir Peter Bonfield, chief executive, said.
