New UK Company Formed To Address Mobile Internet Applications

[New UK company battles the "walled garden portals" with alternative services.]

Manchester -- A new company comprising former members of the wapHQ open access mobile portal development team has been created to target the wireless applications services market. Called eMobile UK Ltd, the company will provide facilities that extend Internet-based business-to business content and applications to Internet-enabled phones and PDAs.

The eMobile management team comprises: Managing Director Mike Bennett, Operations Director Ian Rowley, and Sales & Marketing Director Geoff Readman.

"The experience of the people in eMobile is our strongest asset - much of the team has been working together for over fifteen years and we probably have some of the strongest mobile Internet development expertise anywhere in the World", commented Mike Bennett, Managing Director of eMobile. "The company will be providing an exciting range of services that will allow corporate clients to expand their Intranet/Extranet infrastructure beyond desktop computers to mobile handsets without modifying their existing systems. "The fact that executives no longer need to carry a laptop computer but can use their WAP enabled mobile phone or PDA for voice and data communications is a huge benefit to keeping mobile workers in touch with the office," said Mr Bennett.

The company also plan to expand the capabilities of the wapHQ mobile portal to enhance it's reputation as the public portal that any WAP-enabled phone user can utilise to access any WAP site. "We already provide a major alternative to the 'walled garden' portals of the major network providers", said Mr Bennett. "Mobile commerce (m-commerce) functionality will be added to the wapHQ platform to enable enterprises to establish direct relationships with their customers and ensure secure m-commerce transactions".
