Switzerland Raises SF205 Million for Four UMTS Licenses

by Chantal Pfenniger, Bern -- "The Swiss government raised 205 million Swiss francs ($120 million) in an auction of high-speed mobile-phone licenses after each of the four bidders settled for one license close to the minimum bid price.

"The recipients are Swisscom AG; Orange Communications SA; Team 3G, a consortium led by Spain's Telefonica SA; and dSpeed AG, representing the interests of Diax AG and Sunrise Communications AG, both controlled by Tele Danmark A/S, according to the Web site of the Federal Communications Commission.
