Although the commission is still working on prying the licenses from NextWave's cold, dead fingers, it plans on reconditioning them for size and eligibility, and putting them back on the market. Yeehah! Just like the old days.

"Or is it? There's a great deal of confusion about this auction, particularly among business press outside the wireless niche, who insist on considering this the U.S. version of this year's European 3G auctions.

"But by comparing upcoming Auction #35 to those auctions, and simultaneously to the earlier C-block auction, we get some bizarre disconnects
