[New WAP compatible handset from Ericsson was unveiled at Telecom Asia this week.]

Hong Kong -- "At the "ITU Telecom Asia 2000," an exhibition held in Hong Kong, Ericsson of Sweden demonstrated wireless application protocol-compatible services using the "A2628," its latest mobile phone model.

"The browser complying with the WAP1.1 is built in the A2628, which is Ericsson's seventh WAP-based mobile phone, following the "MC218," "R320," "R380," "R520," "A2618" and "T20."

"... The firm forecasts that about 20 million mobile phones for WAP will be sold within 2000, and that will double in 2001. It expects that WAP services will be more wide ranging through increases of WAP-based mobile phones and the user base.
