Tokyo -- "The new Java-equipped phones being designed for use with NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s i-mode service and scheduled to start hitting the market in January may be unable to properly run some Java applications.

"Such Java-equipped i-mode phones are more advanced versions of the current range of i-mode handsets and they'll be capable of downloading applications created with Java -- such as games or stock price charts, for example -- as well as all the existing non-Java i-mode content already available.
