[Siemens second of three suppliers to announce agreement with T-Mobile.]

Siemens has been selected as a preferred supplier of new, multimedia UMTS/3G technology by mobile radio provider T-Mobile International AG (TMO). According to a letter of intent announced today, Siemens is to become one of three suppliers for delivery and installation of the infrastructure for third generation TMO mobile radio networks. The agreement concluded between T-Mobile International and Siemens is worth more than 350 million euros (around DM 700 million). Siemens will be shipping and installing the first UMTS network components as early as the start of 2001, with wide-ranging tests conducted during the course of the year.

"In the GSM sector we have been cooperating with T-Mobile International for many years as a supplier of mobile network technology, applications and mobile phones. We are very pleased that we will now be able to continue this successful partnership with UMTS" says Lothar Pauly, Member of the Group Executive Management Information and Communication Mobile (IC Mobile).

Siemens has been one of T-Mobile International's suppliers since 1992. In addition to supplying mobile equipment, Siemens installs digital radio and switching technology, intelligent network functions and mobile radio applications based on GSM. The strategic partnership between the two companies is now being continued in the joint establishment of UMTS networks for T-Mobile International. These networks will offer users of mobile equipment not just significantly higher data rates but also multimedia services available at any time, wherever they happen to be.
