Clickmarks Announces Instant Wireless Publisher

Fremont, Calif. -- Clickmarks, a provider of software infrastructure for wireless carriers and enterprise clients, today announced the availability of an innovative wireless-enabling solution called Instant Wireless Publisher that allows webmasters to publish their Internet and intranet sites to any wireless device without costly and time-consuming reengineering.

Instant Wireless Publisher enables Web companies to drag and drop online content into a "wireless gateway window" that makes that content instantly visible on wireless devices, eliminating the need to rebuild sites from scratch in a wireless-compliant format. The wireless content automatically updates whenever new content is added to the original site, freeing webmasters from duplicate updates and allowing wireless users to see new material as soon as it is posted. Clickmarks(r) technology also gives Web companies the option to create special text, links or graphics to appear exclusively to users accessing their sites wirelessly.

Clickmarks(r) solution automatically detects the type of device requesting access to a given site and dynamically transcodes the content for display and interaction on that device. It also intelligently formats content to accommodate the device's screen size and content display capabilities, allowing a configurable and optimal presentation of content for each device. As a result, all supported devices are enabled to display the chosen Web content in a single drag-and-drop procedure, eliminating the need to program that content for each individual platform.

In addition to mobilizing online content onto wireless devices, Instant Wireless Publisher allows online commerce companies to wireless-enable their e-commerce and transaction capabilities. Clickmarks(r) technology enables any website to make its e-commerce functionality available on any wireless device instantaneously and cost-effectively, eliminating the extensive recoding that has become a key stumbling block in the growth of mobile commerce.

Working in collaboration with its value-added technology partners, Clickmarks also enables enterprise applications, legacy systems and other back-office applications data to be made available to wireless users. This allows a corporate Information Systems manager to use the Clickmarks Instant Wireless Publisher to make mission-critical information available to all employees on their different wireless devices, without having to create and maintain multiple parallel Web universes.

This enterprise mobilization application is available to corporations as a licensed software solution on a subscription basis. Web media companies can use the service under a hosted ASP model or through a subscription-based software license.

"Currently, wireless users can access less than 1 percent of all Web sites with their Web-enabled cell phones or personal digital assistants, and enterprises are scrambling to reengineer their sites to correct the situation," said John Huyett, CEO and President of Clickmarks. "With analyst projections that wireless devices will surpass computers as the most popular way of accessing the Internet by 2002 and that more than 700 million Web-enabled cell phones will be in circulation by 2003, our Instant Wireless Publisher is the first solution to fill the urgent need for a fast, cost-effective wireless-enabling methodology."

Clickmarks(r) Instant Wireless Publisher currently supports Palm III, V and VII; Windows CE (Pocket PC); and HDML, WAP, I-mode and J-phone cellular phones.
