Posted: 13-Mar-2001 [Source: Nikkei BP]

[XHTML for mobile handsets gathers some momentum with DDI's adoption.]

Tokyo -- "DDI Pocket Inc. will likely start using a Web browser that supports XHTML Basic for its personal handyphone system (PHS) phones and PDAs in the fall of this year.

"This will coincide with the timing of the company using Java VM in its PHS phones.

"XHTML Basic is a content-description language recommended by the WWW Consortium (W3C) in December 2000 for small appliances such as mobile phones and PDAs. W3C is a standardization organization for the World Wide Web. XHTML Basic is a subset of XHTML and a redefined HTML 4.0.
