|Nokia enters the Korean market with two new CDMA phones|

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) continued its recent line of product launches by introducing its first CDMA phones for the Korean market today. Unveiling the premium category Nokia 8887 and Nokia 8877 is a milestone for Nokia, marking its entry into the last major cellular market in the world where the company has not been present with its mobile phones until now. The Nokia 8887 and 8877 will be available nationwide in Korea in the second quarter of 2001.
"Korea is the third biggest mobile phone market in the Asia Pacific region after Japan and China, and one of the most developed mobile communication markets in the world," said Matti Alahuhta, President, Nokia Mobile Phones. "These launches emphasize our commitment to providing consumers throughout the world with the choice of a Nokia phone. Together with the eight product announcements made last week, these launches are also a reflection of our firm intention to continue strengthening our mobile phone market leadership with a 40 % market share as our target."
Last week Nokia announced two new CDMA models for the Americas market, the tri-mode Nokia 3285 and dual-mode Nokia 3280. For the TDMA markets in the Americas region Nokia announced the WAP-enabled Nokia 3360 and 3320 models. For the GSM markets in Europe and Asia Pacific, Nokia introduced two GPRS phones, the Nokia 6310 and 8310 models, together with the Nokia 3330 model with WAP for the broad consumer segment. Additionally, Nokia announced a special Gold Edition version of its premium phone, the Nokia 8850, for the Asia Pacific markets.

High in aesthetics with a premium design, the Nokia 8887 and Nokia 8877 are available in rich glossy metallic colours and come with a white-blue backlighting keypad, polyphonic ring tones and Nokia's distinctive UI with high resolution display. Weighing 73g each, they are stylishly slim with a folder-type design, and equipped with a host of innovative and personalisation features such as voice dialing with 10 voice tags, CLI (Caller Line Identification) with graphical icons, personal ring tones and colours. The phones also support different operators' browsers for quick Internet access and downloads for ring tones, graphics and games, predictive input for easy and fast text writing, phonebook capacity to store 200 names with e-mail addresses and four phone numbers per name and multi-language support UI (Korean/English).
