New Wireless Technology Offers a Taste of 3G

by Brian McDonough -- "Auvo Technologies has unveiled a taste of 3G with the launch of what it calls the first truly multimodal wireless platform -- meaning it can carry multiple signals at the same time. Auvo said its platform simultaneously integrates voice, text and graphics over packet data networks.

"Both the voice and the data travel down the same packet network," Trish Cusak, Auvo's director of marketing, told Wireless NewsFactor. "A lot of the promise around 3G networks has been that you'll be able to do simultaneous voice and data down the same pipe, and we can deliver it now over the IP pipe."

"The company added that carriers can deploy its technology without installing additional telephony equipment.
