Ericsson signs USD 110 million contracts with Heilongjiang Mobile in China

Ericsson and Heilongjiang Mobile Communication Company (Heilongjiang Mobile) have signed three key contracts, marking a new milestone for the development of the Heilongjiang telecommunication industry and closer cooperation between Heilongjiang Mobile and Ericsson.

Ericsson will provide Heilongjiang Mobile with equipment and services for its fifth GSM network expansion, as well as the first pre-pay system for the province, and an IP Backbone network. The GSM expansion project is to be completed by the end of this year. Ericsson will provide full support for supply, technology and service through Beijing Ericsson Mobile Communications Co. Ltd., and Heilongjiang Ericsson Technology Co. Ltd.

The project for the IP backbone network will cover 13 cities in the province and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Ericsson will provide its AXI 520 and AXI 520-4 core routers for the advanced IP backbone network and complete solutions for the broadband IP backbone network. When the project is completed, Heilongjiang Mobile will be able to provide highly efficient and reliable services for GPRS end-users and Internet service providers.

"We teamed up to lay a solid foundation of information industry in the province. The cooperation we are announcing today will bring better and more efficient services to users."
