[Companies sign agreement to deliver 3G location system in Europe.]

by Brian McDonough -- "CellPoint (Nasdaq: CLPT) and E-Plus have signed a frame agreement to provide mobile location systems for the KPN-Group, which serves 25 million customers, mostly in Europe.

"The Cellpoint contract covers German operator E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH &Co. KG and includes an option for all operators in the KPN Mobile N.V. group. The KPN Group has holdings in telecom providers in Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Ukraine and Indonesia.

"CellPoint chief executive Lars Persson noted this is the world's first pact to deliver a 3G (third generation) location system, based on the GSM (global system for mobile communications) standard, that is designed for roaming. "That is of paramount importance to GSM operators," he added.
