Report: Asia-Pacific To Rule Mobile Market by 2005

[Yankee Group projects forty percent of spending on global wireless infrastructure over the next four years will take place in Asia, primarly Japan and China.]

by Dan McDonough -- "When it comes to wireless, Europe is where it's at. But, according to a recent study by the Yankee Group, Asia is where it will be.

"The Boston, Massachusetts-based research firm found that wireless subscribers in the Asia-Pacific region will number 575 million by 2005, topping Europe to take the throne as the largest mobile communications market.

"If the Yankee Group study is right, this shift boils down to market opportunities -- piles of cash waiting for thirsty wireless companies.
