Matsushita Develops Small Bi-Directional Antenna for IMT-2000 Base Station

[New antenna to allow for mobile handset use in enclosed areas such as subway stations, underground shopping areas, etc.]

Tokyo -- "Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. developed a small 2GHz band antenna for IMT-2000 mobile phone indoor base stations with a volume that is 10 times smaller than the company's existing one.

"The newly developed antenna measures 250mm x 170mm x 20mm outside, about one-third the thickness of the existing one.

"This antenna covers a distance of about 250m, having twin-area directivity composed of two overlapping ellipses. This is considered to be suitable for a long corridor in a building, for instance.
