Generic Media, PacketVideo Develop Video Distribution Technology for FOMA Phones

[NTT DoCoMo to use and certify the video distribution system developed by the two US companies.]

Tokyo -- "Generic Media Inc. and PacketVideo Corp., both based in the United States, said they have developed a live-video distribution system for NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s third-generation mobile communications service, FOMA, which was started in October 2001.

"Generic Media develops video content delivery technology, and PacketVideo develops video distribution systems for cellular phones.

"In September 2001, NTT DoCoMo established the "FOMA Live Streaming Delivery Trial Consortium" to experiment with video delivery to a variety of FOMA-compliant handsets.
