NTT DoCoMo to Market Bluetooth-Compatible PHS Handsets

Tokyo -- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced today that it will begin marketing Personal Handyphone System (PHS) handsets compatible with BluetoothT(TM)1 Ver. 1.1, a world standard for wireless communication between mobile phones, PCs, and other devices. The new browser phone, dubbed "Paldio 633S," will be marketed through all NTT DoCoMo sales channels on an open price basis starting on December 3, 2001.

The model is capable of performing various wireless functions with other Bluetooth Ver. 1.1-compatible devices*2, including 64 kbps circuit-switched data communications and exchanging up to 500 entries from address books, e-mail and electronic business cards.

Large GFC LCD*3 with 65,536 colors.

32-chord ring melodies compatible with PCM sound generator system*4.

Use of an existing Internet e-mail address to send and receive Internet and Paldio e-mail of up to 20,000 letters (10,000 full-space Japanese characters).

Browser access (via 64 kbps circuit-switched data communications) to Browser Menu Sites, mopera location information*5 and websites compatible with i-mode*6.
