Seven companies have applied for the five available licenses.] Tokyo -- "NTT DoCoMo Inc , Japan's largest mobile operator, said on Thursday its Taiwanese partner, KG Telecommunications Co Ltd, had withdrawn its application for a third-generation (3G) mobile service licence in Taiwan."DoCoMo holds a 21.4 percent stake in KG Telecom, a member of family-controlled cement-to-banking conglomerate Koo's Group. "DoCoMo said in a statement that, given the current state of the Taiwanese economy and the high number of available licences relative to the scale of Taiwan's mobile market, excessive competition there was quite likely in the foreseeable future.
