Survey Says 36 Pct. of Users Don't Use FOMA Features
Posted: 16-Apr-2002 [Source: AsiaBizTech]

[Most users still using i-mode phones in addition to their FOMA handsets due to problems with limited service area, quality of voice calls, and standby time.]

Tokyo -- "NTT DoCoMo started the full-fledged service of "FOMA," the third-generation cellular phone service, in October 2001, and the service area has expanded since April 1, 2002. It got a lot of attention when it started, but the number of subscribers hasn't increased as the company expected. NTT DoCoMo was at the beginning hoping to acquire 150,000 subscribers, but the number is still 90,000. Many reasons are suspected, so BizTech has done a survey via the Web site in questionnaire format. Some 361 valid answers were collected from April 1 to April 10.
