[DoCoMo announces third handset in new enhanced i-mode series, the "N504i."]

Tokyo -- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced today that the company will begin selling its "mova N504i" phone on May 29, 2002.

The 504i series is the first group of PDC-based handsets compatible with enhanced i-mode, offering packet data transmission speeds of up to 28.8 Kbps, three times faster than the original PDC-based i-mode. They also support Java Archive (JAR) applications of up to 30 Kb and associated data of up to 100 Kb per application for rich iappli(tm) content.

The N504i is equipped with a 2.2-inch, 65,536-color TFD LCD, three-dimensional polygon engine for 3D video display, and 40 chord ringing tones. It also features graphic-processing technology to display 2D animation without using GIF or JPEG files.

In addition, the N504i incorporates two new technologies to reduce the number of keystrokes when inputting Japanese text.

The N504i will be sold through all DoCoMo sales channels. Retail pricing of the model is open (unfixed). Its standard accessory kit, including battery pack, AC adaptor and desktop holder, costs 6,200 yen.
