[Ericsson introduces its CDMA2000 1x macro radio base station 1130 at the 3G CDMA World Congress in Hong Kong.]

Ericsson today introduced its CDMA2000 1X macro radio base station(RBS) 1130 at the 3G CDMA World Congress in Hong Kong. The RBS 1130 is the newest addition to Ericsson's industry-leading CDMA2000 radio access network product portfolio, which is based on Ericsson's true 3G global platform, the Cello Packet Platform (CPP).

"We are very excited to introduce the RBS 1130. It is yet another example of our commitment to helping operators offer cost-effective 3G services," said Uke Persson, Head of Ericsson Mobile Systems CDMA.

"Ericsson has developed a CDMA2000 product portfolio that will improve our customers' profitability by reducing costs throughout the network lifecycle, from initial capital purchase through installation, maintenance and operation."

The RBS 1130, built on Ericsson's global 3G Cello Packet Platform, is the latest addition to Ericsson's true 3G solution for CDMA2000. It delivers both multi-carrier support and increased coverage in a compact enclosure. The RBS 1130 indoor is capable of supporting up to a 12 x 3 configuration with optimal redundancy in only two cabinets; its high capacity and small footprint meet dense urban network requirements while minimizing operators' space requirements.

Ericsson's radio and packet switching products, for both CDMA2000 and WCDMA, are built on Ericsson's advanced 3G CPP architecture. Leveraging common platforms across 3G echnologies enables Ericsson to focus its R&D resources, improve time-to-market and streamline its supply chain, resulting in cost savings and investment protection for its customers. Ericsson utilizes the CPP architecture for multiple products within its CDMA2000 total solution, including the RBS 1127, base station controller (BSC) 1120, Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN), Home Agent (HA), and in the Wireless LAN Serving Node (WSN). Shared platforms across CDMA2000 nodes for switching, radio access, IP, services and applications results in reduced operations and maintenance expenses due to fewer spares, less training and a common user interface.
