Sprint Announces 3G Toshiba 2032 Handset

[Sprint releases its first integrated Pocket PC phone, the 3G enabled PCS Phone Model 2032 by Toshiba and marketed by Audiovox. ]

Overland Park, Kan. and Hauppauge, NY -- Sprint, the first U.S. carrier to introduce next generation services nationwide known as PCS VisionSM, and Audiovox Communications Corporation (ACC), a subsidiary of Audiovox Corporation and a U.S. sales leader in CDMA (code division multiple access) handsets, today announced availability of the PCS Phone Model 2032 by Toshiba. The 2032 by Toshiba will be sold nationwide at Sprint Stores, third party retail outlets, Sprint business channels including its direct sales force and PCS Business Solutions Program members, as well as online at www.sprintpcs.com. It is available at a suggested retail price of $799.99.

Manufactured by Toshiba and marketed by Audiovox, the PCS Phone Model 2032 by Toshiba opens the door to the next generation of feature-rich Pocket PCs providing high-speed data access and always-available capabilities on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Compact and user-friendly, the 2032 by Toshiba delivers the comprehensive functionality of Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC 2002 software with PCS Vision-enabled wireless voice and data communications capabilities in a handheld device about the size of a 3" X 5" file card. In addition, the 2032 by Toshiba boasts a PCS Full-Color, thin film transistor (TFT) screen with a touch-screen interface, as well as an on-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition.

Mobile professionals now have access to high-speed wireless connectivity enabling Web browsing, e-mail, and mobile e-commerce functions at peak speeds up to 144 Kbps, with average speeds between 50 and 70 Kbps via the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. When used with its included hands-free set or 2-way speakerphone, the 2032 by Toshiba also serves as a phone for direct, personal contact.

Also available with the 2032 by Toshiba are Weblinks to Microsoft's Pocket Streets, Money for Pocket PC, Reader and PCS Business ConnectionSM from Sprint. Weighing in at only 7 oz., the 2032 by Toshiba is equipped with an Intel Strong ARM 206-MHz processor, 32 MB of SDRAM, 32 MB of Flash ROM and an SD card slot.
