Danger: T-Mobile To Roll Out Data Competition Posted: 21-Sep-2002 [Source: Wireless Week] [T-Mobile to make the Sidekick available in the next few weeks with unlimited flat-rate data access for $39.99 per month.] by Kristy Bassuener -- "T-Mobile, the new brand of carrier VoiceStream Wireless, previously announced plans to roll out this fall the Danger Sidekick handheld device. Today, analysts with RBC Capital Markets predict the device will give T-Mobile ''positive differentiation'' in the U.S. marketplace, but also voice concerns over upcoming data service plans. Sidekick (above) will roll out in coming weeks, costing $200 including a $50 rebate, say RBC analysts Jonathin Atkin, David Coleman and Brian Hyun. The device features a miniaturized but full QWERTY keyboard, mobile phone, accessory port for handset or camera and several navigation buttons. Service offerings include Internet access, messaging, e-mail and other advanced options. "Specifically, we believe the service features, form factor and pricing of the Sidekick device and service provide positive differentiation from other wireless PDAs and could drive significant adoption rates in both the consumer and (potentially) business segments," the analysts' report says."
