Malmo, Sweden -- Teleca launches AU Mobile Suite 2.0, a software package enabling browsing, messaging and content management for mobile phones and devices. The software package is expected to be licensed by mobile phone manufacturers representing more than 60 per cent of the global phone market. AU Mobile Suite 2.0 offers mobile phone manufacturers a complete, integrated suite of programs featuring efficient use and seamless interaction. It facilitates faster integration into cellular chipsets and easier integration of more applications. This cuts time-to-market, allowing manufacturers to introduce new models faster and reduce costs. The precursor to AU Mobile Suite 2.0 already has more than 50 licensees around the world, including customers like Palm, Samsung, Siemens VDO and SonyEricsson. "We have created a very strong offering that makes it easier than ever for our customers to cut their development times. The AU Mobile Suite 2.0 simplifies both the integration process and the addition of new functionality and modules," said Joakim Nydemark, president of Teleca Mobile Technologies. "With the modular and flexible design that complies with Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), we are meeting our customer's growing demands for the next generation of mobile terminals and we are now offering an even more complete package." A key component in the new release is the AU Mobile Suite Framework, which acts as the foundation within which functionality is placed, for example for browsing, messaging and Java components. The framework functions as an intermediate layer, collecting common functionality of the AU Mobile Suite products, by utilising core resources of the target device through an easily adaptable API. The browsing parts of the AU Mobile Suite have built-in support for communication protocols for fixed Internet, WAP 1.x and WAP 2.0, as well as for HTML and i-mode(r) compatible HTML. The messaging parts support MMS 1.1 according to WAP Forum specifications and EMS/SMS according to specification 3GPP TS 23.040. The Java application manager allows users to organise, start, exchange and find information about Java programs. AU Mobile Suite is flexible and fully adaptable to manufacturers' requirements regarding functionality, security and interface design. The software package can be integrated independent of terminal operating systems and is compatible with all mobile phone bearer standards.
