NTT DoCoMo, Inc announced today that the F2051 3G handset, which boasts extended stand-by and the ability to e-mail video clips taken with its own camera, will go on sale January 18, 2003. The F2051 offers approximately 170 hours of continuous dynamic stand-by, or about 230 hours of static stand-by, some 3.3 times longer than original FOMA models.
Moreover, the F2051 is compatible with the new
i-motion mail(tm) service, also to be launched on January 18, which enables users to e-mail about 15-second/100 KB video clips taken with the handset's built-in camera, or files downloaded from sites.
The model is equipped with a 2.2-inch 65,536 TFT color display and comes with a built-in CCD camera for photos and video clips (15 frames/second). The camera rotates 270 degrees. It also offers a variety of photo editing functions, such as cropping (for superimposing into other photos) and automatic brightness adjustment.
The F2051 will be available through all DoCoMo sales channels. The price of the phone will be open (unfixed), while its standard accessory kit, including battery back, AC adaptor and desktop holder, will cost 5,300 yen.
