N-Gage Gaming Break Out

[Nokia announces support and gaming content for their new N-Gage game deck as well as co-development initiative with T-Mobile.]

Activision, Inc. confirmed that the company plans to support Nokia's highly anticipated N-Gage platform. Activision also confirmed that it expects to work closely with Nokia on developing games that would support the platform at launch

Eidos Interactive, one of Europe's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, announced that it will publish games for the Nokia N-Gage (TM)game deck. The Nokia N-Gage is a mobile game deck device offering console quality games and is set for release later this year. Nokia and Eidos are working together to bring Eidos' exciting content to the Nokia N-Gage.

Taito Corporation announced that it will provide fascinating rich game content for the Nokia N-Gage(TM) mobile game deck. Taking advantage of the exceptional features of the N-Gage, the first Taito titles will include Puzzle Bobble VS, a fighting action multiplayer puzzle game, and Taito Memories, the four most popular Taito game titles in one package.

Puzzle Bobble VS is a highly popular fighting action puzzle game formatted specifically for the Nokia N-Gage. Taking advantage of the Bluetooth functionality in the N-Gage, Puzzle Bobble VS lets four people play at same time in a wireless environment. Taito Memories includes Super Space Invaders, an update of the world classic Space Invaders, and three other leading Taito games. These game titles will be available on MMC (MultiMediaCard) and sold separately from the Nokia N-Gage game deck.

THQ Wireless, a subsidiary of leading videogame publisher THQ Inc., announced that it work with Nokia to provide games for the new N-Gage(TM) mobile game deck. Under the terms of the agreement, three of THQ Wireless' leading games titles - MotoGP(TM), MLBPA Players Choice Baseball (working title) and Red Faction will be available when the N-Gage starts shipping. The games, which will be available on memory cards, include such additional features as near distance multiplayer gaming over Bluetooth as well as downloadable and uploadable mobile elements. T-Mobile International and Nokia announce today that they have agreed to co-develop innovative mobile services globally for the Nokia N-GageTM game deck. The Nokia N-Gage game deck enables an enriched interactive gaming experience by introducing an innovative wireless multiplayer platform for both local and remote gaming. As part of this partnership, Nokia and T-Mobile are working to create high quality games and integrated games services available globally for N-Gage consumers via T-Mobile's network. T-Mobile will in addition develop and offer this platform in the future to other operators in the industry. As a result, mobile gamers will have an easy to use experience that allows the download of games and game related content using the latest technologies. T-Mobile's intent is to be the first network operator in deploying games commercially for the Nokia N-Gage game deck in Europe and in the US market, with online functionality.
