Tokyo -- "KDDI Corp has decided to adopt Sony Corp's technology in smart cards for use in third-generation mobile phones that it will develop with Hitachi Ltd.

The move will further increase the likelihood that Sony's FeliCa contactless card technology will become the industry standard. NTT DoCoMo Inc, which commands nearly 60% of the domestic cell phone subscription market, also decided to use the FeliCa technology earlier."
