Television live on your mobile phone: T-Mobile has given a new dimension to mobile communications with this service. As the first German mobile phone operator to do so, the market leader now enables television programs to be received on mobile devices. The n-tv news channel programs are transmitted onto the mobile display via GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) as a live stream. This enables users, for example, to follow the n-tv live reports from stock exchanges throughout the world.
"With 'n-tv mobile live TV', T-Mobile is once again demonstrating its position as a pioneer in the development of innovative mobile services and is showing the way forward on the market again with this service", said Martin Knauer, Director of Marketing at T-Mobile Deutschland. "We expect the live pictures with in-depth business and stock market news, current reports and interviews to be particularly well received amongst business customers, but residential customers will also benefit from this service."
To make use of the streaming service, customers require a streaming-enabled device, such as a T-Mobile MDA or T-Mobile MDA II, a Nokia 3650 or a Nokia 6600. A Real Player must be installed on the MDA (Mobile Digital Assistant). The Player is already pre-installed on the two Nokia devices.
The n-tv mobile live TV can be found in t-zones in t-news under n-tv special. Those interested can click into the current program at any time, for example, to avoid missing current developments on the international financial markets when out and about. The television signal is transmitted via GPRS. No additional charges are made on top of the cost of GPRS data transmission. A T-Mobile GPRS data option is recommended for this service.
n-tv mobile live TV is the outcome of a cooperation signed between T-Mobile and n-tv in Spring. T-Mobile Deutschland provides exclusive mobile news services as a result of this agreement. With the "n-tv mobile ticker", customers can load their own news portal onto their mobile, which is then automatically updated. "n-tv teletext" enables news and the entire overview of the current n-tv program to be viewed as on television.
