DoCoMo considering options for 3 UK investment
Posted: 07-May-2004 [Source: Retuers]

[NTT DoCoMO may be looking to pull their funding out of 3 UK.]

Tokyo -- "Since KPN (Telecom) has already pulled out, and we've ended our technological support, Hutchison Whampoa can operate 3 UK by themselves if they want," Keiji Tachikawa, chief executive of Japan's largest mobile phone operator, told a news conference.

"The only issue remaining is what to do about the money... we'll make a decision on whether it's better to keep our money in Hutchison, or put it somewhere else," he said.

While 3 UK is not publicly listed, analysts also believe the value of DoCoMo's stake in the company has dwindled.

In addition to the original investment DoCoMo also provided 3 UK with a 200 million pound ($359 million) loan last April."
