By Jean Panke, Mobile Tech News -- The Flybook is an Ultra-Portable mini-notebook just announced by Dialogue Technology Corporation of Taiwan. It is being distributed by Hi-Tech Products Limited of Valletta
This brand new mini-notebook features integrated 3G Wireless and Tablet features. It measures 235mm x 155mm x 31mm and weighs 1.2Kg. It is the most portable notebook in the market. The Flybook has an integrated tri-band hands-free GPRS phone, integrated WiFi 802.11b, and integrated Bluetooth. With all these features, the Flybook is the first Mini-Notebook that allows its user to communicate anywhere, at any place, and at any time.
The Flybook has an 8.9" wide-view color high-resolution TFT LCD touch-screen that can be rotated and folded back transforming it into a Tablet PC. It offers both Landscape and Portrait display modes for browsing full pages on the Internet without having to use the "scroll down" button.
Specifications also include the latest Transmeta Crusoe TM-5800 1Ghz processor, 512MB DDR RAM and a 60GB hard drive. It has a Li-Ion rechargeable battery offering 4 hours of continuous use and a minimal two-hour recharging time. It includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 FireWire portys, Video-Out port, an external VGA port, integrated Ethernet, a fax modem port, PCMCIA type II Slot, earphone, stereo speakers, a built-in microphone, and built-in stereo speakers. In addition, the Flybook has integrated GPRS phone functionality. It comes complete with the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OS. Security features include BIOS/Power On/Hard Disk user name and password. External power runs from 100 to 240V for international use.
The Flybook is available in red or silver, and has a full 1-year warranty on parts and labor. The retail price of the FLYBOOK will be US$2142 + VAT.
