Paris -- Motorola Inc. and Bouygues Telecom, the French mobile operator, today announced a contract to deliver Push-To-Talk over Cellular (PoC) services using Motorola V400p handsets. Bouygues Telecom will make its voice messaging services commercially available to enterprise and professional customers from November 2004.
Bouygues Telecom can now offer its subscribers the flexibility of mobile messaging combined with the ease of use of voice, giving users one-touch automatic access to presence-enabled PoC contacts for a walkie-talkie style voice connection with individuals or groups.
Motorola will host and manage Bouygues' PoC services from its hosted applications centre in Paris, France. Motorola will be responsible for managing the PoC service.
Motorola's PoC solution is based on its IMS platform which lays the foundation for further 'Push-To' applications including Push-To-Text, Push-To- View, Push-To-Video. In addition to providing its PoC server and handsets, Motorola's PoC client software is available for license to third party handset manufacturers and software developers.
