GSA Confirms 100 GSM/EDGE Devices Launched

[GSA survey identifies 19 suppliers of GSM/EDGE devices launching a total of 100 models.]

The Global mobile Suppliers Association, confirms from its latest survey published April 1 that the number of GSM/EDGE devices launched in the market has reached 100 models.

GSM/EDGE-enabled devices cover all market segments for new revenue growth, and an enhanced user experience of fast rich data services. The survey identified a total of 19 suppliers of GSM/EDGE devices covering handsets and PC cards.

The first GSM/EDGE handset was announced in November 2002, underlining the rapid acceptance and maturity of EDGE as a mainstream technology.

GSA also confirms EDGE network deployments in approaching 80 countries worldwide, with at least 65 networks offering commercial GSM/EDGE-enabled services in over 40 countries today.
