Moscow & Waterloo, ON -- Mobile TeleSystems OJSC, the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Research In Motion today announced plans to offer BlackBerry(R) to mobile customers in Russia.
BlackBerry will enable MTS subscribers to easily access e-mail, phone, text messaging, Internet, organizer and corporate data applications from a single, integrated device. By using BlackBerry to access corporate applications, MTS customers will be able to increase productivity and efficiency for individuals and workgroups.
For corporate customers, BlackBerry Enterprise Server(TM) tightly integrates with Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotu Domino(TM) and Novell GroupWise(TM) enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based, wireless access to e-mail and other corporate data. For individuals and smaller businesses, BlackBerry Internet Service(TM) allows users to access up to ten corporate and/or personal email accounts (including Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino and many popular ISP email accounts) from a single device.
BlackBerry will operate on MTS' GSM/GPRS network in Russia with international roaming supported in the countries where MTS has GPRS roaming agreements.(a)
