Framingham, MA -- NMS Communications today announced that its MyCaller(TM) ringback tone solution has achieved interoperability approval from Nortel. Compatibility approval was achieved using Nortel's MTX12 CDMA infrastructure equipment in Nortel's Richardson, Texas Wireless Interoperability Lab.
MyCaller empowers subscribers to select world-class original recordings of music, sounds, and voices for their callers to hear in place of the conventional "ring, ring" tone. What the caller hears depends on the personal ringback profile previously chosen and set by the mobile subscriber. The MyCaller ringback tones may be set easily via WAP, SMS or IVR.
Unlike the popular ring tones, which reside in the handset and depend on having models with specific features, the ringback tone service resides on the telecom provider's network. Once a mobile operator implements MyCaller in their network, every mobile customer, regardless of handset, can use the service, and all of their callers, regardless of whether they're calling from a fixed-line or mobile phone, will hear the ringback that the customer has chosen for them to hear.
"We are pleased to have achieved interoperability with Nortel for MyCaller," said Brian Demers, NMS' Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Applications, NMS Communications. "We are committed to maintaining compatibility with Nortel equipment, providing Nortel and its operator customers with the level of confidence they expect from NMS while enabling them to provide the revenue-enhancing MyCaller ringback service to end users with ease."
