Santa Clara, CA -- NETGEAR today announced the expansion of its popular RangeMax(TM) family of extended range, high-speed wireless networking products with the launch of the RangeMax Wireless Access Point (WPN802).
The RangeMax Wireless Access Point, which employs an array of seven internal Smart MIMO antennas, dynamically adapts to the environment to avoid interference and deliver up to 10 times more wireless coverage and speed than basic 802.11g access points. Range and data speeds are further enhanced when the Wireless Access Point is used with NETGEAR's RangeMax adapters that include the RangeMax Wireless PC Card (WPN511), RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter (WPN311), and RangeMax Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (WPN111).
The RangeMax Wireless Access Point, which is fully compatible with standards-based 802.11b, 802.11g and Atheros Super G devices, dynamically senses the environment and selects from up to 127 possible antenna configurations to eliminate Wi-Fi dead spots and optimize the wireless connection to each client to provide the fastest, most stable connection available. To protect the network, the RangeMax Wireless Access Point supports WPA-PSK, 64- and 128-bit WEP data encryption, and MAC address authentication. NETGEAR's SmartWizard(TM) Installation Assistant ensures easy setup and configuration.
"Range is obviously a growing concern for wireless LAN deployments in office environments, but with the emergence and rapid adoption of advanced applications such as video streaming and Voice-over-IP, the ability of the wireless solution to provide higher, more stable speeds at those longer distances will become absolutely critical," explained Lianne Caetano, NETGEAR Product Line Manager. "Our RangeMax Wireless Access Point delivers range, stability and speeds unlike any other technology available on the market. In addition, because of the unique BeamFlex(TM) antenna technology that we've incorporated from Video54, we're able to deliver this technology to the market more affordably than rival MIMO implementations."
"The range and speed enhancing benefits of MIMO technology are well documented and Video54's unique BeamFlex technology delivers these benefits to all installed 802.11b/g devices in the most cost effective fashion," stated Selina Lo, CEO of Video54. "The RangeMax products deliver the superior stability, higher-speeds, and greater coverage that customers seek, making it an ideal solution for businesses running advanced network applications that require high-reliability and fast data throughput rates."
While the RangeMax Wireless Access Point is optimized for use with the RangeMax Wireless clients to deliver up to 10 times more coverage and speed of standard 802.11g-based devices, it provides performance improvements of up to 50% for existing 802.11b/g clients including notebook computers with integrated wi-fi networking capabilities. With the ability to support data speeds of up to 108 Mbps, the RangeMax Wireless Access Point provides wireless bridging and repeater mode support with Wireless Distribution System (WDS) and supports two VPN pass-through tunnels.
NETGEAR's RangeMax Wireless Access Point (WPN802) is backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, and is available now via leading direct marketers, e-commerce sites, and value-added resellers at a list price of $157.
